• Lead a high-performing team of actuaries and students • Direct and control activities within a defined area of actuarial analysis or responsibility • Supervise, train, develop, and coach professional individual contributors • Establish a high-performing, collaborative team environment • Identify workforce needs and align them with corporate manager expectations, values, and vision • Manage development of pricing for premium rates and fees • Analyze emerging profit compared with pricing assumptions • Perform specialized pricing and underwriting for large cases or unique blocks of business • Analyze profitability, growth, risk, customer retention, and expense trends using company, industry, and capital market data • Create and maintain models for analysis, risk management, income projection, and regulatory requirements • Communicate findings to management and provide quantitative input for business, investment, and financial strategies • Collaborate with sales, marketing, and other functional areas on financial soundness and new product design • Research, design, and implement new products or product enhancements • Analyze new product profitability to achieve corporate and division income and growth goals • Provide strategic guidance to influence management decision-making • Serve as illustration actuary with annual reporting responsibilities • Serve as a lead on key projects and initiatives • Mentor others in the actuarial career • Develop and execute business needs within an actuarial function
• FSA designation required • Seasoned actuarial business perspective, particularly including pricing design and strategy • Strong life pricing experience • Group or Individual Life pricing experience strongly preferred • Experience with GGY AXIS preferred • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in mathematics, actuarial science, business, or a related field preferred • Ability to analyze complex quantitative, qualitative, forward-looking, and organizational factors • Ability to communicate and collaborate across departments • Project leadership, stakeholder management, conflict resolution, negotiation, and influencing skills • Ability to independently determine methods and procedures on new assignments • Background investigation and employment, education, and licensing verification required as a condition of employment • Must be bondable
