📋 Description

• Oversee strategy, planning, and execution for SPN events, including the 1,500+ person Annual Meeting • Serve as a thought partner to staff and ensure events advance SPN’s mission and strategic objectives • Drive content planning and programming; collaborate with leadership and stakeholders to build agendas and curate speakers and session formats • Partner with communications, programs, and development teams on event content • Design and implement systems and processes to scale events, streamline logistics, reduce manual work, and improve efficiency • Build and maintain relationships with vendors, sponsors, and partners • Hire, mentor, and coach the events team • Oversee event sponsorship strategy and execution with the sponsorship contractor and development team • Ensure brand consistency across speakers, content, and event logistics • Coordinate with communications to prepare presenters and maintain a polished attendee experience • Build post-event feedback loops and refine SPN’s event playbook • Develop and track event budgets and identify cost-effective execution opportunities • Report to the Executive Vice President and lead SPN’s four-person events team

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in event strategy, event management, or a related field • Experience leading large-scale, high-profile events with 500+ attendees • Experience designing event content, including agendas, session formats, and speaker lineups, for substantive policy- or issue-driven audiences • Experience using technology and process design to improve event efficiency and scalability • Proven people-management experience • Strong budget management and vendor negotiation skills • Exceptional project management skills and ability to manage multiple complex timelines • Passion for hospitality and creating memorable, personal experiences • Willingness to travel regularly for site visits and on-site event execution, roughly 20% travel • Experience designing and executing successful donor cultivation events is ideal • Familiarity with the state-based think tank movement or nonprofit/association event work is a plus
