📋 Description

• Serve as Step’s compliance leader and subject matter expert across key banking and financial services regulations, including BSA/AML, KYC, UDAAP, Reg E, Reg Z, EFTA, GLBA, FCRA, and CFPB guidance • Own and drive the compliance strategy across products, partnerships, and operations • Develop, enhance, and execute policies and procedures for a risk-based, scalable compliance program • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Risk, Customer Experience, Marketing, Legal, and partner banks on compliant product development and delivery • Oversee internal reviews, audits, testing, training, and ongoing monitoring • Lead issue tracking, regulatory exams, complaints handling, and reporting • Evaluate regulatory changes and translate them into actionable plans and guidance • Serve as primary compliance contact with regulators, partner banks, auditors, and key stakeholders • Report to the Chief Operating Officer

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in compliance or legal within fintech, banking, and/or payments • Deep understanding of U.S. consumer financial services regulation • Fluency in deposit, payments, and lending regulatory frameworks • Experience with sponsor banks or Banking-as-a-Service partnerships • Strong understanding of shared compliance models • Hands-on ability to write policies, respond to regulators, review customer flows, and assess vendors • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience • Ability to travel occasionally for team offsites and key meetings
