• Promote student success through a comprehensive school counseling program • Help students plan postsecondary education, military, and workforce options • Provide academic achievement strategies and support emotional and interpersonal skills • Focus students and families on college and career readiness • Meet quarterly with caseload students to review graduation plans and postsecondary options • Deliver classroom instruction based on student success standards • Review transcripts and academic documentation • Collaborate with teaching staff on four-year graduation plans and audit student schedules • Assist with course placement, Advanced Placement recommendations, and enriched learning pathways • Analyze student data and develop intervention action plans • Provide short-term counseling and referrals for long-term support • Support teachers, staff, and parents • Support standardized testing, parent education, and staff development • Advocate for students in individualized education plan and other student-focused meetings • Act as a change agent to improve equity, access, achievement, and opportunities • Travel up to 20% for face-to-face professional development, student testing, and school requirements
• Bachelor's degree • Three (3) years of experience in counseling and/or advisement • School Counselor License • North Carolina Certification required • Ability to clear required background check • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, web-based search engines, and database systems • Flexible schedule and ability to travel as needed • Master’s degree in school counseling • Experience with distance learning • Advanced coursework in counseling and administration • Experience as a teacher and/or school administrator desired • Experience in a customer service environment desired • Experience with local, state, and federal laws and mandated reporting desired • Experience in a charter school environment preferred • Experience with state career planning systems, Pathfinder, or other career-planning platforms/tools preferred • Must reside in North Carolina • Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week • Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during the workday
