📋 Description

• Lead Tallo’s engineering and technology organization, developing and supporting the existing team • Manage engineering managers who lead software engineering and QA teams • Set technical direction for Tallo’s career platform and partner with Product, Data, Marketing, Operations, and company leadership • Own the structure and health of the engineering organization • Oversee technical architecture, product roadmap delivery, and long-term platform evolution • Develop engineering culture, team structures, leveling frameworks, development paths, and performance standards • Hire, onboard, coach, and develop engineering managers and technical leaders • Improve sprint cadence, code review standards, release processes, quality assurance, and agile practices • Guide platform and enablement priorities, including shared components, technical debt, CI/CD, and infrastructure • Set and evolve secure, performant, scalable, and sound technical architecture and standards • Own technology safety, security, compliance, and the relationship with parent company Stride • Partner with data and data science teams on data architecture, analytics, methodology, prioritization, and data quality • Partner with Marketing on SEO, organic search, and platform performance work • Partner with Product on roadmap priorities, sequencing, capacity planning, tradeoffs, and delivery blockers • Evaluate and recommend AI/ML use cases, tooling, infrastructure, experimentation, and evaluation approaches • Report to the CEO and collaborate with the Principal PM, Marketing, Data, and Stride leadership • Communicate technical concepts, progress, risks, capacity, and investment tradeoffs to executives • Establish and track engineering metrics covering throughput, quality, reliability, and team health • Directly supervise engineering managers and senior individual contributors • Interview, hire, train, assign, evaluate, reward, discipline, and support employees

🎯 Requirements

• Deep experience in software engineering and senior leadership of multi-team organizations • Exceptional hiring ability, including attracting and landing strong engineers and engineering leaders • Proven experience leading engineering managers and building team structures, leveling frameworks, and operating models • Track record of identifying and empowering strong technical leaders • Demonstrated success building and scaling engineering organizations in high-growth environments • Strong background in modern cloud-based architectures, DevOps practices, and distributed systems • Track record of shipping customer-facing product capabilities, including data-driven or AI-enabled features, into production • Experience owning quality assurance and reliability standards and practices • Experience building secure systems and meeting compliance requirements, ideally for sensitive or young user populations • Experience partnering with data and data science functions, including data architecture and analytics • Excellent people leadership skills, including coaching managers, building performance cultures, and developing technical leaders • Strong strategic thinking paired with a hands-on execution orientation • Comfortable working directly with the team rather than leading from a distance • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with executive-level influence • Ability to clear required background checks • No certificates or licenses required
