• Conduct initial screening of psychiatric and medical needs for incoming referrals for psychiatric and chemical dependency admissions • Provide virtual assessment services through phone triage and patient assessments • Triage patients in acute crisis and determine disposition to the correct level of care • Perform mental status assessments when an involuntary hold evaluation is required • Determine the most appropriate level of care and patient placement according to illness severity • Provide illness advice and self-care interventions • Identify resources, consult, and refer patients as appropriate • Use the nursing process, physician input, and approved telephone nursing guidelines and protocols • Maintain efficient operations, provide quality care, and ensure positive patient outcomes • Recognize unsafe or emergency situations and respond appropriately • Protect each patient’s protected health information • Build collaborative relationships with peers, physicians, nurses, administrators, and the public
• Resident of Utah, Idaho, Arizona, or Montana • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing • Must hold an RN-Registered Nurse license in the state of residence • Must be able to acquire a California Registered Nurse license prior to starting • 1 year of mental health experience preferred • 2 years of practical nursing experience in a hospital, clinic, urgent care, or emergency room/department preferred • Professional knowledge of clinical nursing protocols, regulations, institutional standards of care, risk management, disease processes, emergencies, health sciences, and pharmacology • Advanced clinical knowledge of medical diagnoses, procedures, protocols, treatments, terminology, and applicable state and federal regulations and guidelines • Solid analytical and project management skills • Communication, interpersonal, and interviewing skills • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and electronic medical/health records experience • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills • Ability to manage multiple priorities/projects simultaneously • Ability to recognize unsafe or emergency situations and respond appropriately • Ability to ensure patient privacy and protect protected health information
