• Develop and execute multi-year category strategies for direct material categories • Lead the full strategic sourcing and category lifecycle from business case development and market analysis through contracting and supplier management • Drive Total Cost of Ownership through market intelligence, cost modeling, should-cost analysis, and competitive benchmarking • Build feedstock-to-material cost models to validate supplier pricing and support negotiations • Negotiate complex supply agreements covering pricing, commercial terms, volumes, capacity, and continuity • Lead Supplier Relationship Management for strategic suppliers, including joint business plans, innovation pipelines, and continuous improvement • Manage supplier relationships and performance against SLAs, KPIs, and cost targets • Develop category KPIs and supplier scorecards • Analyze market, cost-driver, capacity, feedstock, logistics, trade policy, and regulatory dynamics • Reduce single-source exposure through dual sourcing, qualified alternates, and regional supply options • Lead cross-functional stakeholder teams across Operations, R&D, Quality, Finance, Planning, and Sustainability • Partner with R&D and Quality on material qualification, specification changes, formulation alternatives, and new product introduction sourcing • Advance circularity and sustainability objectives through recycled material sourcing, supplier carbon and EPD data collection, and lower-impact alternatives • Partner with Supply Chain and Planning on inventory strategy, working capital, order quantities, lead times, and safety stock • Measure and report category performance, savings, price variance, lead time, service levels, and delivery improvements • Advise executive stakeholders by translating business cases and market dynamics into actionable recommendations • Maintain contract, pricing, and supplier data integrity and ensure procurement policy and internal-control compliance
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field • MBA preferred • Minimum 6–10 years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, category management, procurement, or qualifying production/R&D/engineering experience with significant commercial exposure • Strong understanding of Total Cost of Ownership principles, strategic sourcing methodology, cost modeling, and contract negotiation • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence without direct authority • Strong communication, collaboration, and executive presence • Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, and presentation skills • Strong analytical capability, including Excel-based cost modeling • Proficiency with ERP and e-sourcing systems such as SAP, Ariba, or equivalent • Ability to problem-solve and develop practical solutions to complex operational challenges • Ability to work remotely with substantial self-direction • Ability to travel up to 25% to support supplier and company site operations • Direct sourcing experience with specified direct materials or specialty chemicals preferred • Experience sourcing recycled or post-consumer material streams preferred • Multi-plant manufacturing experience and flooring, building products, or plastics processing knowledge strongly preferred • Experience with end-to-end category management preferred • Experience with index-based and formula pricing, commodity risk management, and hedging concepts preferred • Knowledge of supply markets, cost drivers, and direct-material technology trends preferred • Advanced project management skills preferred • Supplier contract creation, negotiation, and administration skills preferred • Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement training preferred • Professional certification such as CPSM, CPSD, CIPS, or C.P.M. preferred
