Teak provides a lightweight API with enterprise-grade security and compliance (PCI, SOC 2), U. S. and Canadian licensing, customer support for refunds and payouts, and data-driven optimization to increase ancillary revenue and reduce chargebacks.

📋 Description

• Act as the first point of contact for legal questions from Product, Sales, Customer Success, Finance, and other teams, triaging issues and involving outside counsel where needed • Own contract lifecycle management across the business, including drafting, redlining, and negotiating commercial, partner, and vendor agreements • Review incoming and outgoing agreements, flag risk, and ensure consistency with company positions and policy • Manage the board process end-to-end, including meeting preparation, resolutions, consents, and minutes • Serve as Corporate Secretary • Oversee lobbying registrations, disclosures, and compliance obligations across states and jurisdictions in which Teak operates • Establish scalable legal processes, templates, and playbooks that respond to business needs and invite team participation • Serve as the primary legal point of contact and advise leadership on corporate governance • Work with key outside counsel

🎯 Requirements

• 5–15 years of total legal experience, in-house and/or law firm • Track record of increasing ownership over commercial and corporate matters • Strong contract drafting, review, and negotiation skills across commercial, partnership, and vendor agreements • Comfortable handling a wide range of internal legal questions and knowing when to escalate to outside counsel • High degree of ownership and resourcefulness • J.D. • Active bar license in good standing • Travel to Teak Hubs in Phoenix, San Francisco, Denver, Los Angeles, Austin, or Chicago may be required • Bonus: experience in a corporation • Bonus: direct experience in an ecommerce/subscription Internet business • Bonus: hands-on experience supporting corporate governance and board processes, including service as or alongside a corporate secretary • Bonus: familiarity with lobbying registration and disclosure requirements • Bonus: experience as an in-house generalist at a high-growth startup
