📋 Description

• Accurately code and abstract clinical information from medical records • Code Ancillary, Emergency Department, Outpatient Surgery, Observation, and low-acuity Inpatient encounters • Apply ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT codes according to federal regulations and Tenet Coding Quality Standards • Enter codes into the appropriate database daily • Review monitoring reports for outstanding accounts awaiting final diagnosis • Resolve coding edits and CARDS edits • Liaise with medical records, hospital business offices, physician offices, hospital staff, physicians, and patients regarding coding questions or discrepancies • Assist with training new coders • Complete continuing education and LearnShare lessons • Maintain timely coding, confidentiality, HIPAA compliance, and minimum-necessary standards • Perform other related duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent • 2–5 years facility-based coding experience • Completion of coding certificate program or associate or bachelor’s degree in health information management or related field • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite, electronic medical record, and encoder • Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, HCPCS, modifiers, CARDS, and coding edit resolution • Ability to use computers and phones • Preferred: RHIT, CCS, and/or RHIA
