📋 Description

• Serve as the same-day clinical escalation point for suicidal statements, self-harm, and mental health crises • Conduct risk assessments and build safety plans with students and families • Coordinate with Texas DFPS and 911/988 when required • Own ongoing support plans after an outcry, crisis, or DFPS report, including check-ins, accommodations, and coordination with guides and families • Provide brief, solution-focused counseling and refer students to community providers for ongoing therapy • Review attendance, disengagement, and concerning-work patterns to identify concerns early • Train guides to recognize warning signs, respond to disclosures, and follow mandated reporting requirements • Maintain confidential clinical and support records on a strict need-to-know basis • Build student wellness support as the academy's first dedicated mental health professional

🎯 Requirements

• Full, independent Texas clinical license: LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or licensed psychologist; associate and provisional licenses do not meet the requirement • Master's degree or higher in counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, or psychology • 2+ years of clinical experience with children and adolescents • Experience assessing suicide risk, building safety plans, and managing active crises • Ability to conduct crisis intervention remotely, including over video • Knowledge of when to contact Texas DFPS, 911, or 988 during crises • Ability to build trust with students through a screen and remain proactive, visible, and accessible • Fluency in trauma-informed, strengths-based practice • Telehealth experience strongly preferred • School-based mental health experience, bilingual Spanish and English, and student-athlete mental health experience are bonus points
