📋 Description

• Complete required tutor training and onboarding before providing tutoring services • Prepare for and facilitate individual and/or group tutoring sessions • Support currently enrolled IllinoisCOM students with academic success strategies • Clarify and review concepts taught in class, explain processes, and help students solve specific problems • Document tutoring attendance and services using the designated system • Protect the confidentiality and integrity of examinations, student information, and course materials • Apply study techniques addressing different learning needs, styles, and preferences • Use active listening, questioning, inquiry, curiosity, and collaborative learning to diagnose needs and monitor progress • Foster a professional and welcoming environment respectful of students’ diverse backgrounds, cultures, language skills, and experiences • Participate in professional development and use feedback and reflection to improve practice • Provide direct assistance with equipment, learning objects, and materials needed for student success • Make appropriate referrals to campus and community resources when necessary • Communicate with students in a direct and supportive manner

🎯 Requirements

• Currently enrolled and in good standing as a second-, third-, or fourth-year student at an accredited MD or DO granting medical school • Demonstrated proficiency in each course or subject area the applicant will tutor • Must be in good academic and professional standing and maintain this standing throughout employment • Demonstrated mastery of the subject area through relevant coursework, professional experience, faculty recommendation, or other credentials approved by IllinoisCOM • Ability to provide virtual tutoring from a private, professional environment with reliable internet access and appropriate audio and video capabilities • Excellent written and verbal communication and comprehension skills • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality of sensitive and privileged information • Good organizational skills and strong attention to detail • Ability to manage professional and interpersonal relationships and interact effectively with diverse members of the institutional community and outside constituencies • Proficiency in data entry and use of the required database system
