📋 Description

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair Thermo Fisher Scientific Trace Elemental and Chromatography instrumentation, including ICP-OES, ICP-MS, IC, and HPLC systems • Diagnose electrical, mechanical, fluidic, vacuum, software, and application-related instrument issues • Perform preventative maintenance, qualification, system upgrades, and other field service activities according to procedures and quality standards • Provide technical support and customer service while developing professional customer relationships • Apply analytical instrumentation and laboratory application knowledge to diagnose system performance issues • Manage service activities independently across a geographically dispersed territory • Document service activities, troubleshooting findings, parts usage, and repairs in service management systems • Read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, service procedures, and instrument diagnostics • Support customers with instrument operation, routine maintenance, and best practices • Partner with technical support, applications specialists, sales, and other Field Service Engineers on complex issues • Maintain assigned tools, test equipment, service parts, and company resources • Follow safety, quality, regulatory, and customer-site requirements • Respond to customer needs on short notice to minimize instrument downtime • Deliver high customer satisfaction and professionalism • Travel extensively throughout Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, North Dakota, and South Dakota by automobile, with occasional air travel

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required in Chemistry, Engineering, Electronics, Physics, or a related scientific or technical field • 2+ years of relevant hands-on technical experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, or repairing complex analytical, scientific, laboratory, or comparable electromechanical equipment • Experience with chromatography, elemental analysis, analytical chemistry, or laboratory instrumentation is strongly preferred • Previous experience supporting ICP-OES, ICP-MS, IC, HPLC, or related analytical instrumentation is highly desirable • Troubleshooting complex systems and understanding scientific applications and workflows associated with analytical instrumentation are strongly preferred • Relevant technical training or certifications are advantageous • Strong electrical, mechanical, and system-level troubleshooting skills • Ability to diagnose complex instrument problems and isolate failures to component or subsystem level • Understanding of fluidics, electronics, vacuum systems, pumps, valves, detectors, high-voltage systems, computer-controlled instrumentation, and related technologies is beneficial • Ability to work independently in the field • Ability to translate technical information for customers and provide training and support on instrument operation and basic maintenance • Ability to manage schedules, prioritize customer needs, and organize workload across a large geographic territory • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, service management software, and diagnostic software • Able to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.; environmental conditions also require ability to lift 40 lbs. without assistance • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future • Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screen • Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet company driving requirements
