📋 Description

• Work closely with reporters and talent in the field to produce accurate and compelling video content for ESPN’s linear and digital platforms • Use technical expertise and creativity to deliver expanded shoots, split shows, or full shows without traditional crew support • Communicate with camera crews and support positions to align field production efforts • Pitch ideas and news angles; write and edit scripts; formulate anchor questions with coordinating and segment producers • Partner with the assignment desk and digital/social teams to deliver content across ESPN’s networks and digital properties • Use new technology to enhance storytelling and improve efficiency • Frame sports news stories to engage the largest possible audience • Build relationships with leaders across ESPN’s platforms to understand show and platform needs • Navigate changing show-production dynamics, including overseeing split shows and serving as point person on multi-camera shoots • Present coverage ideas and plans for show planning meetings • Participate in planning meetings and conference calls to create coverage plans • Coordinate with reporters in researching, preparing, and reporting news and feature elements • Produce or participate in producing on-air news and features, communicating content and logistical details with production staff • Coordinate scheduling of hired field production crews • Review and approve scripts submitted from the field • Gather information and insight from news sources, athletes, leagues, conference representatives, and other news makers • Resolve issues with technical staff and related production issues • Provide feedback to management and coach fellow producers and reporters

🎯 Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of progressively complex related studio or related production experience • Strong production skills related to sporting events • Exceptional news judgement • Fluent in social media and popular culture • Established knowledge of sports and sports history • Detailed technical knowledge of what works on television and what is realistic to accomplish in the time allotted for show production • Strong organizational and communication skills • Specific knowledge of television production techniques used in a digital control room • Working mastery of real-time sports news production processes • Commitment to learning new technologies and sharing that information to help the group benefit with new coverage plans • High School diploma or equivalent
