📋 Description

• Grow existing relationships and build new relationships across security practitioner, researcher, maintainer, and open-source communities • Attend and speak at relevant cybersecurity conferences and meetups • Re-establish and support successful community meetups • Facilitate technical office hours connecting open-source maintainers with Trail of Bits engineers • Help contributions land upstream and maintain relationships after engagements end • Turn research and releases into advisories, co-authored writeups, reusable guidance, workshops, and hands-on sessions • Publish deep dives, tutorials, and technical write-ups under your own name • Identify speaking opportunities and help engineers submit, prepare, and deliver conference talks • Run Trail of Bits work against unfamiliar code and provide direct feedback to research and engineering teams • Create runnable examples and workflow integrations; contribute to skills and plugins • Improve project onboarding, documentation, and first-run experiences • Attract external contributors and encourage repeat contributions • Feed practitioner needs, research gaps, and emerging ecosystem trends back into the firm • Set targets with the manager during the first quarter and review them quarterly • Track ecosystem outcomes such as contributors, upstream fixes, accepted talks, cited writing, and practitioner advocacy • Hand off commercially relevant opportunities and track them with the appropriate teams

🎯 Requirements

• Shipped software that people use, such as a tool, library, integration, skill, or agent • Ability to read unfamiliar code, run analyzers, and open merged pull requests • Deep, hands-on security experience, typically seven or more years • Published research, CVEs, or advisories count toward security experience • Practical experience building with agentic tooling, including skills, agents, MCP servers, harnesses, and evals • Public body of work including talks, posts, upstream contributions, research, or documentation • Community credibility in security and open-source communities • Writing and speaking skills suitable for a skeptical technical audience • Ability to make and defend priorities under ambiguity • Willingness to travel approximately one quarter of the year • Nice to have: open-source project maintenance or meaningful contributions • Nice to have: depth in application security, blockchain and cryptography, AI/ML security, or low-level systems research • Nice to have: experience running or programming a community venue at meaningful scale • Nice to have: developer documentation contributions that ship alongside code • Nice to have: involvement with open-source foundations, grant programs, or maintainer-facing initiatives
