• Inspect, estimate, negotiate, and evaluate first- and third-party auto physical damage claims • Assess collision, comprehensive, property damage, rental, towing, fire, theft, flood, lightning, diminished value, and injury-related claims • Provide technical advice and direction to auto claim professionals on claim damages • Deliver consistent service throughout the claim life cycle, including customer contact, process explanations, expectation setting, communication, and follow-through • Manage assignments and travel promptly to vehicle or equipment locations • Scope claims and determine physical claim values using recognized resources, estimating, and evaluation software • Prepare and document vehicle/equipment damage appraisals and Actual Cash and Replacement values • Partner with assigned Claim Professionals from initial investigation through final recovery • Negotiate claim values with customers and repair facilities • Determine applicable total-loss settlement amounts, coverages, and deductibles • Negotiate and convey settlements within authority and initiate customer payments • Provide inspection assistance to other lines of business and departments, including catastrophe response • Review coverage and apply policy conditions, provisions, exclusions, and endorsements • Manage repair processes, claim and expense reserves, action plans, and claim diaries • Communicate damage assessments and obtain payment authorization • Participate in catastrophe deployments of at least 16 days, including travel days • Perform other duties as assigned
• High School Degree or GED with a minimum of one year auto appraisal experience • Valid Driver's License • State appraiser and claim handling licenses where applicable; licenses may generally be required within three months of starting • Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree, or Technical School Degree listed as ideal candidate qualifications • Two years of auto appraisal experience preferred • Prior experience with an insurance carrier preferred • Extensive knowledge of auto repair, repair techniques, terminology, and construction • Thorough knowledge of claims appraisal systems and claim operations • Windows proficiency, including Excel and Word • Ability to participate in catastrophe response, extended deployment, and unscheduled travel with minimal notice • Strong mathematical and negotiation skills • Ability to remain current on jurisdictional laws and regulations and communicate compliance requirements • Commitment to continuous education
