• Inspect, estimate, negotiate, and evaluate first- and third-party auto physical damage claims • Assess collision, comprehensive, property damage, rental, towing, fire, theft, flood, lightning, diminished value, and injury-related claims • Deliver consistent service quality throughout the claim life cycle • Manage assignments and travel to vehicle/equipment locations • Scope claims and determine physical claim values using technical expertise, company resources, estimating, and evaluation software • Prepare and document vehicle/equipment damage appraisals and Actual Cash and Replacement values • Partner with assigned Claim Professionals from initial investigation through final recovery • Negotiate claims with customers and repair facilities and establish settlement values and required payments • Determine settlement amounts for applicable total-loss claims • Convey claim settlements within authority and initiate payments • Provide inspection assistance across lines of business, including catastrophe response • Review coverage and apply policy conditions, provisions, exclusions, and endorsements • Manage the repair process and maintain claim and expense reserves • Develop and update action plans and diaries to bring repairs to timely resolution • Communicate damage assessments following negotiations and obtain payment authorization • Perform other duties as assigned
• High School Degree or GED with a minimum of one year auto appraisal experience • Valid Driver's License • Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree or Technical School Degree • State appraiser and claim handling licenses where applicable • Two years of auto appraisal experience preferred; prior experience with insurance carrier • Strong technical background and extensive knowledge of auto repair, repair techniques, auto terminology, and construction • Thorough knowledge of claims appraisal systems and overall claim operations • Windows proficiency, including Excel and Word • Participation in Auto Catastrophe response, including extended deployment and unscheduled travel with minimal notice • Strong mathematical and negotiation skills • Ability to remain current on jurisdictional laws and regulations • Commitment to continuous education • Insurance license(s) may be required and generally must be obtained within three months of starting the job, with ongoing continuing education credits • Ability to travel promptly to vehicle/equipment locations and participate in catastrophe deployments away for a minimum of 16 days, including 2 travel days
