• Lead an approximately eight-week engagement establishing cloud governance, financial management, and policy standards in a large-scale Azure environment • Work directly with client cloud infrastructure and IT finance teams to design and implement governance controls • Assess Azure governance, financial management, resource organization, tagging, and policy practices • Facilitate discussions defining tagging standards, ownership, inheritance, allowed values, and exception handling • Design and implement Azure Management Group hierarchies across subscriptions and environments • Author and implement Azure Policy definitions and initiatives for governance, security, compliance, and cost management • Establish governance as code with Terraform and GitHub Actions, including deployment and promotion workflows • Implement audit, deny, and exemption policy rollout strategies • Develop compliance reporting and remediation processes • Evaluate budgets, alerts, thresholds, approval processes, and cost allocation approaches • Conduct Azure optimization reviews covering utilization, right-sizing, reservations, commitments, idle resources, regions, and SKUs • Quantify optimization opportunities and communicate financial impact to technical and finance stakeholders • Develop showback, cost attribution, shared-cost allocation, and resource ownership approaches • Evaluate governance and financial management across additional cloud platforms • Develop reusable governance patterns, technical standards, implementation guidance, and documentation • Establish ongoing compliance and financial management processes • Partner with client administrators through paired implementation, knowledge sharing, and coaching • Present findings and recommendations to technical leadership and executives • Develop a FinOps maturity roadmap and prioritized future backlog • Create runbooks and handoff materials enabling independent client operation
• Must reside within the United States • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future • Must be able to pass a background check • 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, cloud architecture, DevSecOps, platform engineering, FinOps, cloud governance, or related disciplines • Deep hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure cloud governance in enterprise environments • Strong experience designing and implementing Azure Management Group hierarchies and organizing enterprise Azure subscriptions • Strong hands-on experience with Azure Policy, including custom policy definitions, initiatives, assignments, audit and deny effects, exemptions, and compliance reporting • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform, and ability to build governance deployment workflows • Strong experience with GitHub Actions and modern Git-based development and deployment practices • Strong understanding of FinOps principles and practical cloud financial management • Experience developing cloud tagging and resource organization standards • Experience with Azure Cost Management, billing data, cost allocation, showback/chargeback concepts, and cloud financial reporting • Experience identifying and quantifying cloud optimization opportunities • Ability to connect technical optimization findings to measurable financial impact • Strong understanding of integrating cloud governance and policy controls into provisioning, deployment, and operational processes • Ability to assess environments, identify gaps, and develop remediation and implementation plans • Strong consulting, stakeholder facilitation, recommendation, and prioritization skills • Ability to communicate with engineers, administrators, finance leaders, infrastructure leadership, architects, and executives • Ability to independently drive an engagement with parallel workstreams and deliverables • Strong written and verbal communication skills and technical documentation ability • Collaborative coach-and-contribute mindset • Preferred: Google Cloud organization policies, AWS governance, ServiceNow Cloud Cost Management, Power BI, FinOps certification, AI/ML cost models, regulated environments, enterprise governance standards, and consulting engagement leadership
