📋 Description

• Provide oversight and support for workflow and departmental functions • Coordinate operational, technical, and/or clerical support services • Plan and organize workflows and prioritize customer needs • May lead a small team and serve as a mentor • Create and maintain procedural standards and records • Develop and maintain team educational programs, including new employee orientation • Utilize multiple system applications for data collection and management • Collaborate on performance improvement activities and help identify and resolve operational issues • Communicate goals, standards, program expectations, service performance, and Trinity Health objectives • Recognize, address, and/or escalate organizational, operational, and team conflicts • Maintain compliance with applicable laws, regulations, Trinity Health programs, policies, and procedures • Ensure accurate CPT/HCPCS documentation for patient billing • Educate colleagues and ancillary departments on accurate documentation and appropriate coding • Perform charge capture in assigned Revenue Integrity areas • Review charts and clinical documentation to interpret, validate, and/or extract charges • Verify charges against the correct patient, encounter, date of service, and required modifiers • Abstract data and ensure charges and coding align with AMA and Medicare coding guidelines • Perform CPT and ICD-10 coding, documentation review, and claim denial review • Work pre-bill edits including OCE/CCI and DNFB within key metrics • Provide at-elbow support to ancillary departments, identify duplicate or deficient charges, and initiate communications to resolve errors • Perform charge entry, charge approvals, and quality charge reviews, including modifiers and clinical documentation checks • Provide feedback to Revenue Integrity colleagues • Code and/or validate charges for complex service lines and advanced surgical or specialty coding • Educate clinical staff on accurate and complete documentation for revenue optimization and integrity

🎯 Requirements

• Associate’s degree in healthcare, business administration, finance, accounting, or related field or equivalent experience considered in lieu of degree • Minimum three (3) years of relevant coding and charge control work experience in a hospital and/or Physician Practice environment • Experience in revenue cycle, billing, coding, and/or patient financial services • Demonstrated knowledge of clinical processes, charge master maintenance, clinical coding (CPT, ICD-10, revenue codes & modifiers), charging processes & audits, and clinical billing • Working knowledge of third-party payer rules and requirements, computer operations, and electronic interfaces related to charge documentation, capture, and billing • Knowledge of charge capture, reconciliation, error management operations, and overall revenue cycle operations • RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC/COC or other coding credentials and/or Licensed Vocational Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse licensure strongly preferred • CHC certification preferred • CHRI certification/membership strongly preferred • Registered Nurse strongly preferred • Knowledge of APC, OPPS reimbursement structures, OCE/CCI edits, and DNFB • Knowledge of clinical documentation improvement processes strongly preferred
