📋 Description

• Manage and develop a team of commercial attorneys and legal professionals, including hiring, mentoring, priority-setting, and culture-building • Build and scale the commercial legal team in line with company growth • Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements for GTM and partnership deals with enterprise and government customers • Oversee counterparty and vendor due diligence in the commercial intake and contracting process • Navigate cross-border commercial issues involving GDPR, UK data protection law, EU regulatory frameworks, and APAC-specific requirements • Partner with Sales, Partnerships, Product, and Engineering leadership to support deal velocity and provide practical legal guidance • Act as a key decision-maker on commercial legal risk, escalating high-stakes matters to the GC/CLO • Support team members' professional growth through feedback, stretch assignments, and ownership opportunities • Translate developments in privacy, AI regulation, law enforcement data access, sanctions/AML, and public procurement into requirements for cross-functional teams • Build and maintain commercial legal infrastructure, including contract templates, fallback playbooks, and CLM workflows • Lead AI-enabled legal operations and iterate AI-assisted workflows • Identify, frame, and escalate legal and business risks • Stay current on legal developments affecting AI technologies, data products, and financial crime compliance

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years of legal experience • Strong mix of top-tier law firm and in-house work • Experience ideally in SaaS, fintech, cybersecurity, or crypto/Web3 • Significant experience negotiating complex B2B technology agreements • Hands-on product counseling experience, ideally with data- and analytics-heavy products • Comfort advising on AI and data issues, including data sources and permissions, privacy and security obligations, AI regulatory frameworks, content, and IP questions • Demonstrated fluency using generative AI tools for drafting, contract analysis, legal research, and process design • Judgment about when to deploy AI versus escalate to a human • Familiarity with public sector procurement, bank/vendor risk processes, or law enforcement or financial institution work is a strong plus • Systems, workflow, and SLA-oriented builder mindset • Experience with CLM, Salesforce, and generative AI tools • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills • Ability to explain complex issues clearly to non-lawyers and calibrate advice for executives, GTM leaders, and technical teams • Ability to manage high matter volume and competing priorities while maintaining high standards • J.D. or international equivalent • Active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, or ability to register in-house where required
