📋 Description

• Ensure the operational efficiency of a complex health system • Code diagnoses and procedures for assigned cases • Use knowledge of UCLA Health, AHA – Coding Clinic, and AMA – CPT Assistant guidelines • Assign ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS codes for patients • Abstract all coded data in a timely and accurate manner into the abstracting system

🎯 Requirements

• Associate degree in health information science, Bachelor’s degree in health information management, or completion of courses in ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding • COC, CPC-H, CCS, or CCS-P certification, required • Three or more years of experience with surgical procedural and ambulatory care coding • Three or more years of experience as an outpatient coder, acute care hospital experience preferred • Proficiency in ICD-10-CM and CPT-4/HCPCS and modifier usage • Knowledge of APC payment methodologies, AHA Coding Clinic, and CPT Assistant • Ability to orient and train new employees and students • Understanding of all state and national reporting requirements • Strong communication, interpersonal, and prioritizing skills • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and 3M 360 Encompass software
