📋 Description

• Conduct literature and open-source reviews of AI in the specialty area • Design, plan, and develop AI software using digital safety best practices • Resolve complex AI and software engineering challenges using technical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills • Design, plan, and create statistically meaningful evaluations of AI systems • Prepare written component documentation for technical audiences • Work closely with team members to ensure processes are accurate and technically sound • Lead problem-solving in specialty areas • Create digital safety system components of varying novelty and complexity • Mentor junior-level team members • Lead distinct AI or software engineering workstreams • Forecast research, tool development, and end-user needs • Perform other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• PhD in Computer Science with a focus in the applicable AI area of specialty plus 4 or more years of directly related research experience; or Master’s degree plus 6 or more years; or Bachelor’s degree plus 10 or more years • Mastery-level knowledge of AI safety in the specialty area • Ability to independently solve engineering research challenges through integrated safety testing • Ability to create digital safety system components across digital safety areas • Ability to provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior-level team members • Ability to lead AI or software engineering workstreams • Ability to engage in standards technical committees • Ability to develop and maintain relationships within the AI and safety research community
