📋 Description

• Plan, direct, and coordinate designated structural steel and miscellaneous metals projects • Ensure projects meet goals and objectives within prescribed schedules and funding parameters • Protect the company’s long-term interests and achieve customer satisfaction • Build and maintain relationships with clients, project managers, superintendents, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors • Vet and transfer project knowledge, including safety, scope, proposals, instructions, and construction methods • Manage project teams, resolve issues, maximize profits, and maintain customer relationships • Anticipate and resolve potential issues and develop business-supporting plans • Establish subcontracts and purchase agreements in conformance with project documents • Liaise between detailers, architects, and engineers; document schedule, price, changes, agreements, and RFIs • Coordinate internal and external communications among vendors, suppliers, engineers, detailers, and shop and field management • Expedite change orders, RFIs, and submittals and follow up through resolution • Review project status and financial information; reconcile discrepancies • Review and approve project invoices and submit them for purchasing review • Prepare monthly customer billing and follow up on delinquent payments • Follow up with field operations and act on information obtained • Travel to project sites for weekly or bi-weekly meetings and coordinate with customers, design teams, and subcontractors • Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, and critical paths • Coordinate shop and vendor deliveries • Maintain daily and weekly reports and structural and miscellaneous metals schedules • Manage project closeout, billing, and documentation • Assist the Director of Project Management with policies and procedures • Supervise team members, including interviewing, hiring, training, work assignment, performance appraisal, rewards, and discipline

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in project management, preferably with at least 5 years project managing in the steel fabrication/erection industry • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering a plus • Self-starter able to work independently and within team environments • Strong sense of urgency and ability to address project demands and customer needs • Strong attention to detail; ability to multitask and manage time effectively • Basic math and technical writing skills • Good oral and written communication skills • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Project Management Software, and PDF editors • Ability to develop interpersonal relationships and communicate with all organizational levels, customers, and vendors • Ability to influence and motivate others and deal with ambiguity and changing requirements • Problem-solving ability and collaborative professional outlook • Local travel required 25%–40% • Must pass criminal background check and drug test • Must follow United Steel’s and project site safety rules, including wearing PPE when required or prudent
