📋 Description

• Serve as a patient advocate and liaison among patients, caregivers, pharmaceutical companies, insurance providers, physicians, pharmacists, clinic staff, and care coordination staff • Identify, facilitate, and order prescription medications through medication access, drug replacement, and co-pay assistance programs for eligible underinsured patients • Identify opportunities from co-pay assistance foundations • Create, manage, and perform financial, billing, and clinical audits • Create and distribute operational reports to pharmacy and hospital management • Verify insurance and demographic information, obtain or verify prior authorizations and referrals, and communicate medical-necessity needs for outpatient medication infusions • Coordinate patient encounters and appointments using multiple system applications and clinical operating systems • Obtain patient history and confidential demographic, financial, insurance, allergy, and disease-state information • Organize workflow, document findings, meet productivity standards, answer calls, respond to emails, and complete workload reports • Interview patients/caregivers and complete applications for drug replacement and co-pay assistance programs • Manage program-drug inventory, certify patients, and document drug deliveries and service volumes • Resolve provider and customer concerns and escalate to pharmacists or managers when needed • Contact patients/caregivers to determine medication and supply needs • Work with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and Care Coordinators to optimize formulary and drug-benefit programs • Complete prior authorizations and appeals and contact payors to determine eligibility and coverage • Coordinate patient appointments and communicate readiness for treatment • Participate in quality improvement, department and hospital meetings, in-services, and quality teams • Maintain compliance with company policies, conduct standards, HIPAA requirements, and confidentiality • Perform other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• High School or GED/equivalent (required) • Registered or eligible to register as a pharmacy technician with the State Board of Pharmacy Examiners (required) • Three (3) years of experience as a pharmacy technician (preferred) • Three (3) years of experience with patient access, insurance verification, obtaining prior authorizations or medical billing experience (preferred) • PTCB certification preferred for retail pharmacy settings involving medication handling; time will be given to obtain certification if needed • Knowledge of patient assistance programs, insurance coverage, prior authorizations, appeals, medical billing, and pharmacy operations • Ability to maintain HIPAA privacy and security requirements and confidentiality • Ability to use multiple system applications, clinical operating systems, physician EMR, fax, email, and telephone systems
