📋 Description

• Serve as a liaison among patients/caregivers, physicians, pharmacists, pharmaceutical companies, insurance providers, clinic staff, and care coordination staff • Identify, facilitate, and order prescription medications through medication access programs for eligible underinsured patients • Identify opportunities from co-pay assistance foundations • Create, manage, and perform financial, billing, and clinical audits • Create and distribute operational reports to pharmacy and hospital management • Verify accurate insurance and demographic information • Obtain or verify prior authorizations, referrals, and medical necessity for outpatient medication infusions • Coordinate patient encounters using multiple system applications and clinical operating systems • Obtain patient history and confidential qualifying information for drug replacement and co-pay assistance applications • Manage program drug inventory, deliveries, certifications, and documentation • Contact patients/caregivers to determine medication and supply needs • Coordinate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and Care Coordinators to maximize formulary and drug benefit programs • Manage orders received by fax, physician EMR, or other sources • Complete prior authorizations and appeals • Contact insurance plans/payors to determine eligibility and coverage information • Assist with patient appointment coordination and communicate readiness for treatment • Participate in quality improvement activities, department and hospital meetings, in-services, and teams • Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, standards of conduct, and HIPAA requirements • Perform other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• High School or GED/equivalent (required) • Registered or eligible to register as pharmacy technician with the State Board of Pharmacy Examiners (required) • Three (3) years of experience as a pharmacy technician (preferred) • Three (3) years of experience with patient access, insurance verification, obtaining prior authorizations or medical billing experience (preferred) • PTCB certification preferred if working in a retail pharmacy setting and handling medications • Compliance with HIPAA privacy and security requirements • Ability to maintain confidentiality • Ability to use multiple system applications and clinical operating systems • Ability to obtain and verify insurance, demographic, prior authorization, referral, and medical necessity information
