📋 Description

• Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle complex property insurance claims • Confirm and analyze coverage, recognize liability exposure, and negotiate equitable settlements in compliance with state regulations • Proactively manage an assigned caseload of moderately complex property claims • Partner with vendors and internal business partners to facilitate claim resolution • Coordinate with external regulators and maintain required documentation and compliance • Investigate damages using information from insureds, third parties, and external resources • Identify discrepancies, subrogation potential, coverage concerns, prior loss history, and SIU referral needs • Determine coverage by analyzing policy terms and contingencies • Negotiate claim settlements and collaborate with management on amounts outside authority limits • Maintain accurate, thorough, and current claim file documentation • Use estimating technology and virtual inspection tools to prepare claims estimates • Apply inspection, damage mitigation, and restoration industry standards • Serve as an informal resource for team members • Address jurisdictional challenges, legislation, and construction considerations • Support workload surges and catastrophe response operations, including on-call dates and possible evening, weekend, and holiday work • Travel for catastrophe deployments when assigned, potentially with minimal notice • Manage higher-complexity claims and additional duties as needed • Identify, monitor, and control risks in accordance with compliance policies and procedures

🎯 Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma • 2 years of relevant property adjusting and/or claims adjusting experience handling moderately complex claims, or construction-related industry/insurance experience • Developing knowledge of residential construction • Working knowledge of estimating losses using Xactimate or similar tools and platforms • Demonstrated negotiation, investigation, communication, and conflict resolution skills • Working knowledge of property claims contracts and interpretation of case law and state laws and regulations • Proficiency in prioritizing and multitasking while navigating multiple business applications • Ability to travel up to 50% of the year, locally and non-locally, and/or work catastrophe duty when needed • Acquisition and maintenance of an insurance adjuster license within 90 days and three attempts • Prior experience using virtual claims technologies such as ClaimsXperience preferred • Prior advanced knowledge of XactContents preferred • Prior experience handling Contents-only higher-severity/complex large-loss claims preferred • Bachelor’s degree preferred • Industry designations such as CPCU, AIC, or SCLA preferred • Currently hold an active adjuster license preferred • Current residence in or ability to self-relocate within the Columbia, SC; Charlotte, NC; or Augusta, GA areas • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner preferred • Ability to crouch and stoop to inspect confined spaces, including attics and crawl spaces • Must meet USAA safe driving requirements, including driving-record verification through MVR and possession of a valid driver’s license • Ability to lift at least 35 pounds, including a ladder • Ability to climb ladders, traverse roofs, and work at heights while inspecting roofs and attics • Must not require immigration support or visa sponsorship
