📋 Description

• Review documentation for required elements, including attestations, signatures, and dates • Abstract and code surgical procedures from all CPT sections and crosswalk surgical codes to ASA codes • Code complex anesthesia cases • Apply appropriate modifiers • Code ICD-10 • Code cases across varied locations and high-complexity cases • Abstract anesthesia times and events • Identify and assign care team providers • Review for medical direction • Meet team KPIs, including daily production and quarterly coding audit score requirements • Work escalation workflows and respond to coder requests for more information • Process coding rejections and physician responses • Work assigned IDX edits and claim denials • Adhere to company policies and procedures, especially HIPAA and confidentiality • Perform other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent • 3-5 years minimum surgical coding experience • 2+ years of anesthesia coding experience • Current CPC required • CANPC is a plus • Complex surgical coding experience • Experience coding for physicians, CRNA, CAA, NP, SRNA, and residents • Experience with multiple EMRs and documentation types/templates, including handwritten paper documentation and electronic medical records • NCCI bundling familiarity • Familiarity with LCD/NCD • Experience with CMS coding guidelines • Ability to review and determine start and end times, care team, and medical direction • Ability to follow departmental playbooks and pathways • Intermediate Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe PDF, and Outlook skills • Ability to read, write, and speak English • Ten-key proficiency • Excellent organizational and time management skills • Excellent computer skills • Ability to work independently • Ability to self-motivate new projects • Must reside in the United States, excluding California, Hawaii, and Alaska
