📋 Description

• Act as a liaison between patients, providers, and insurance companies to ensure appropriate data collection and regulatory and payer compliance • Obtain benefits, eligibility, and preauthorization for scheduled patients • Explain insurance and payment options and act as a financial counselor • Work with physician schedulers and the OR Manager to maintain schedule and data-entry accuracy and obtain missing information • Verify insurance benefits, eligibility, and prior authorization requirements using knowledge of managed care contracts and major third-party payers • Notify patients of estimated liability and ensure compliance with surgery center collections policies • Screen patients for Financial Assistance Program eligibility and document insurance details, payments, and patient-access information • Coordinate with physician offices when prior authorization requirements are not in place • Coordinate with other departments regarding add-ons, cancellations, and insurance-related delays • Assist and back up front-office staff and assist with new-hire orientation as needed • Provide customer service by assisting with calls, giving directions, and providing facility information • Coordinate coverage with staff and schedulers during absences • Perform other duties as assigned and maintain HIPAA compliance

🎯 Requirements

• One year of healthcare experience or one year of related experience required • Working knowledge of medical terminology • Working knowledge of surgical equipment, including machines and implants, helpful • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding desirable • Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, computer skills needed for online learning, forms, policies, and benefits enrollment • Working knowledge of English, including reading, writing, and speaking • Bachelor’s degree in business and/or health sciences preferred • Must be HIPAA compliant
