📋 Description

• Develop online training modules for transition professionals and parents of students with visual impairments • Develop student-facing interactive online lessons • Create virtual resources for students with visual impairments, their families, and supporting professionals • Maintain a virtual mentorship program connecting students with visually impaired adults • Lead an advisory board of blind and low vision individuals • Identify and develop transition-focused resources • Support communities of practice on transition for students with visual impairments • Facilitate and support a student mentorship program • Develop and disseminate a monthly e-newsletter • Provide and receive feedback on team-developed materials and training • Assist with data collection and evaluation efforts • Contribute to conference presentations and article submissions • Support supervision of students and trainees working on the project • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and university students • Report administratively and functionally to the EMPOWER VI Principal Investigator

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in special education, rehabilitation, or another disability-related field required • Professional and/or personal experience in blindness/visual impairment required • Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills required • Ability to work effectively with multiple people as part of a collaborative team required • Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks and meet deadlines required • Strong computer skills necessary • Interest in working with/supporting rural communities necessary • Prior middle or high school teaching and/or administrative experience preferred • Prior experience delivering training or professional development preferred
