📋 Description

• Provide overall leadership for development of data center space for current and future projects • Oversee the electrical aspects of new product development, industry design trends, innovations, code requirement changes, and design engineering • Manage a team handling multiple projects and product development tasks with competing priorities • Ensure projects align with strategic corporate objectives • Collaborate and integrate with the sales lifecycle process, including client interface • Communicate with facilities operations, sales and marketing, and subject matter experts to support facility design • Define and drive the vision for design and engineering initiatives • Lead strategic planning for engineering projects • Evaluate emerging technologies and design methodologies • Represent the organization in industry forums and engage with the data center engineering community • Build relationships with internal teams and external consultants, vendors, and contractors • Advise senior leadership on business strategy and product development • Foster collaboration and innovation through initiatives such as the Employee Think Tank • Communicate with department leadership through reports and presentations • Manage engineering activities from concept through commissioning across the portfolio • Drive design and engineering decisions while balancing technical, budget, and business priorities • Oversee consultant and vendor qualification and recommend technology adoption • Integrate lessons learned into processes for continuous improvement • Provide accountability for team performance, budget, and schedule adherence • Oversee QA/QC processes and mentor and develop engineering staff • Manage team workload and ensure timely delivery of high-quality work products • Recruit, lead, and manage the Electrical SME team • Lead electrical design and engineering, including site assessment, conceptual design, basis of design, scope of work, and construction documents • Oversee inputs and deliverables to ensure data center spaces meet requirements, codes, specifications, and leases • Develop and refine design standards • Coordinate with site operations to define project requirements and design criteria • Support issues arising after critical infrastructure becomes operational • Provide technical support to sales and marketing • Monitor new technologies and innovation opportunities • Develop and manage team learning and onboarding content • Perform additional duties assigned by management

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field • Registration as a US-based Professional Engineer (P.E.) strongly preferred • 8+ years of experience in an engineering management or leadership role required • 15+ years of experience in electrical design and construction required; 20+ years preferred • Data center experience required • Experience leading technical design teams • Cross-discipline knowledge of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architectural, and other critical data center trades • Strong understanding of design, construction, commissioning, and operations processes for North American development projects • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Demonstrated experience leading and developing electrical engineering teams • Experience managing a multi-project engineering workload in a fast-paced, high-growth environment • Strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems, utility services, substations, medium-voltage and low-voltage systems, emergency and standby power systems, UPS systems, generators, transformers, switchgear, protection and controls, grounding, and electrical monitoring systems • Travel required, expected to be 15 to 25% • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment • Strong people leadership, coaching, mentoring, and team development capabilities • Strong technical judgment and ability to balance engineering requirements with business, cost, schedule, constructability, and operational considerations • Strong organizational and project management skills • Proficient in Microsoft Office • Understanding of AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, Navisworks, and CFD modeling software environments • Familiarity with electrical engineering analysis tools, including short-circuit, coordination, arc-flash, load-flow, and power system modeling applications • Well versed in building codes and ordinances, including NEC • Strong attention to detail and accuracy • Familiarity with AI tools for process automation and data analysis • High level of integrity and professionalism
