📋 Description

• Lead end-to-end delivery for client engagements with moderate to high technical and organizational complexity • Serve as the primary client-facing engagement lead and point of contact • Lead discovery and problem framing across workstreams • Translate client vision and business requirements into technical and analytical requirements • Frame roadmaps around client business goals, urgency, and expected impact • Evaluate client AI readiness, data quality, governance, semantic layer maturity, reporting, and BI needs • Deliver internal and external project status reports to stakeholders and executives • Develop data-solution positioning strategies, including partnerships, proposals, client extensions, and revenue-generating initiatives • Submit staffing requests to ensure appropriate delivery teams • Design client data architectures and recommend infrastructure and tools • Partner with technical leadership on complex architecture decisions and independently handle routine decisions • Manage cross-team dependencies, escalation paths, and developer support across workstreams • Own delivery governance across multiple workstreams and engagements • Manage project schedules, team workload, sprint boards, backlogs, planning, and retrospectives • Drive delivery within budget, schedule, and scope while maintaining client satisfaction • Identify, track, and mitigate issues and risks • Shape and scope account expansion, extensions, change orders, and AI-readiness assessments • May teach or mentor other managers on Agile goals, planning, and implementation

🎯 Requirements

• 8–12 years of experience independently leading complex and broad-ranging data projects • Strong project management skills, including experience operating in and building Agile and other frameworks • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and creative capabilities • Strong knowledge of the modern data stack and its components, including configuration and integration with non-modern data technologies • Working familiarity with how AI and agentic workflows consume data, including semantic layers • Hands-on experience as an analyst, analytics engineer, data engineer, or similar • Organized and process-oriented • Available for occasional client travel, up to 10% of the time • Ability to speak to all levels of prospective clients • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills • Intermediate proficiency with data ingestion SaaS such as Fivetran or Stitch • Intermediate proficiency with massively parallel processing data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Databricks • Intermediate proficiency with data transformation tools such as dbt or SQLMesh • Intermediate proficiency with cloud-forward BI platforms such as Tableau, Sigma, or Looker • Must be able to work in the United States; Velir does not sponsor candidates and cannot accept those on OPT or CPT
