• Serve as the field-based medical/scientific expert for Verastem Oncology • Engage healthcare providers and provide fair/balanced education on investigational products and disease areas • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with investigators, institutions, groups, and consortia • Increase company visibility and interact with current and future oncology leaders • Participate in medical education for healthcare professionals, including formulary committees • Ensure required education and training are provided at clinical sites • Identify clinical research opportunities aligned with company objectives • Serve as primary territory contact for investigator-initiated research from concept submission through publication • Communicate clinical and research insights to shape company research • Maintain clinical and scientific expertise through training, conferences, workshops, and publications • Gather and disseminate compliant competitive intelligence • Mentor MSL team members and contribute to the cross-functional Medical Affairs team • Execute administrative aspects of regional field activities • Provide medical leadership for internal cross-functional programs and projects • Respond to unsolicited medical information requests • Complete timely reports, project plans, and required documentation • Senior MSL: contribute to publication planning, slide-deck development, training initiatives, and Medical Strategy Plan implementation • Senior MSL: lead national priority projects, cross-functional initiatives, and selected external collaborations • Senior MSL: mentor or coach other MSLs and coordinate advanced training initiatives
• Advanced Clinical/Science degree (MSN, PharmD, PhD) or professional credentials/equivalent required • Prior experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry strongly preferred • Prior MSL or relevant experience strongly preferred • Minimum of 3 years oncology experience strongly preferred • Senior MSL: minimum five (5) years in Pharmaceutical Industry Medical Affairs as MSL • Knowledge of applicable treatment, compliance, and regulatory guidelines • Knowledge of treatment guidelines (NCCN, ASCO, ESMO, etc.), clinical research processes, FDA regulations, CMS reimbursement coverage process, and OIG guidelines • Ability to travel up to 65% of the time • Approximately 60–70% domestic travel required • Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills • Strong problem solving, decision-making, and negotiation skills • Ability to think strategically and apply knowledge and analytical skills • Ability to summarize and present complex scientific information clearly, concisely, confidently, and accurately • Ability to network and partner with external customers, medical thought leaders, academic institutions, research consortia, practice networks, and other healthcare organizations • Demonstrable effective leadership skills • Deep therapeutic competency and current knowledge of oncology/translational science • Knowledge or experience in ovarian cancer/gynecologic oncology is a plus • Solid tumor experience preferred for Senior MSL
