📋 Description

• Design and implement scalable, secure Azure data architectures for business intelligence, analytics, and operational systems • Build and maintain data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, and related services • Contribute to database designs across Azure SQL Database, SQL Managed Instance, PostgreSQL, and CosmosDB • Optimize storage across Azure Blob Storage, Data Lake, and structured databases • Design data models and structures for analytics and reporting • Develop and maintain stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views • Implement database DevOps processes, including schema versioning, deployment automation, and rollback procedures • Perform database performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization • Ensure data integrity, security, and HIPAA/HITRUST compliance for PHI data • Manage database lifecycles across development, pre-production, and production using RedGate Flyway • Design and implement ETL/ELT processes integrating multiple data sources • Build event-driven processing solutions using Azure Service Bus, Event Grid, and related services • Integrate external REST APIs and develop internal Python data APIs using FastAPI/Flask on Azure Container Apps or Functions • Develop data transformation logic and orchestration workflows • Ensure data quality, consistency, and lineage across the data platform • Integrate Azure AI services and machine learning endpoints as needed • Review Power BI semantic models, reports, and dashboards • Translate stakeholder business requirements into technical solutions • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers and engineers • Contribute to data engineering standards, patterns, and best practices • Participate in architecture reviews and technical decision-making • Collaborate with DevOps and Infrastructure teams on platform improvements • Create technical documentation, data dictionaries, architecture diagrams, and process flows • Document data lineage, transformation logic, and business rules • Maintain audit trails and compliance documentation • Troubleshoot complex data issues and provide production escalation support • Participate in on-call rotation as needed • Build and maintain EHR integrations using FHIR and C-CDA • Support HL7 v2/MDM/ADT message flows, including parsing and acknowledgment handling • Maintain OpenAPI specifications, API versioning, and contract tests • Lead HTML-to-PDF document templating and server-side rendering pipelines • Ensure accessibility and compliance requirements for document outputs

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience • 8+ years of experience in data engineering, database development, or related roles • Expert-level proficiency in T-SQL and Microsoft SQL Server • Expert-level proficiency in Python • Experience building REST APIs and background workers in Python (FastAPI/Flask) • Understanding of event-driven architectures and asynchronous processing patterns • Strong experience with Azure data services, including Azure SQL, Data Factory, Synapse, and Blob Storage • Hands-on experience building and maintaining data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes • Knowledge of Power BI, including DAX, data modeling, and performance optimization • Understanding of database design principles, normalization, and data modeling • Experience with Git and CI/CD practices • Microsoft certification (Azure Data Engineer Associate, Azure Database Administrator, or Power BI Data Analyst) • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code, including Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates • Knowledge of Azure services such as Container Apps, Functions, and Logic Apps • Experience with PostgreSQL and CosmosDB • Understanding of HIPAA/HITRUST compliance requirements • Experience with PowerShell for automation and scripting • Experience with Azure DevOps or similar CI/CD platforms • Experience with data governance, cataloging, and metadata management • Background in healthcare technology or regulated industries • Experience with OpenAPI/Swagger specification design and contract testing • Proficient in advanced AI development tooling, such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot • Knowledge of Azure API Management and private networking patterns • Practical experience with FHIR, including resources, search parameters, and OAuth2/SMART on FHIR • Experience integrating with Epic, Cerner, Athena, or other EHR/EMR systems • Experience with HL7 v2, including MLLP/MDM/ADT message handling • Ability to travel up to 15% • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
