• Review construction plans, drawings, and specifications for compliance with the Florida Building Code (FBC), local ordinances, and all applicable state and federal regulations • Evaluate plans across Structural, Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Energy, and Accessibility disciplines • Confirm proposed materials, systems, and assemblies comply with approved listing standards and Florida Product Approvals • Communicate deficiencies and required corrections to architects, engineers, contractors, developers, and property owners • Provide code references and guidance to help applicants achieve compliance • Coordinate plan reviews with fire, zoning, utilities, environmental, health, and other departments or agencies • Respond to questions from the public and industry professionals regarding building code requirements • Interpret and apply the Florida Building Code, including updates and amendments • Maintain documentation of plan review notes, approvals, corrections, and correspondence • Track compliance with Florida Statute requirements, including review timelines • Stay current with FBC updates, legislative changes, and industry standards • Uphold ethical standards and ensure consistent, impartial application of codes
• At least (3) years’ experience as a Plans Examiner in the State of Florida • Valid Florida Plans Examiner License: “RPX” License or “PX” (Standard Building Plans Examiner and one commercial Plans Examiner MEP license) required • Valid Florida driver’s license; ability to travel within the jurisdiction • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations • Proficiency with inspection software and digital reporting systems
