WorkHero is a managed back-office service that runs end-to-end administrative operations for small HVAC contractors. The company takes ownership of paperwork, billing and collections, pricebook management, maintenance plans, permits, rebates, equipment registrations, payroll and vendor/payments reconciliation, and sets up and optimizes field-service and accounting software such as Housecall Pro, ServiceTitan, and QuickBooks. Work is executed by dedicated HVAC office managers supported by AI-assisted automation to speed repetitive work while preserving human quality control; the offering is month-to-month and focused on removing admin bottlenecks so owners can scale without hiring or training in-house staff.

📋 Description

• Build product experiences and AI systems across React, React Native, Node services, tool-using agents, and human-review loops • Develop product screens and workflows for jobs, customers, invoices, and scheduling • Build AI chat interfaces with tool-result rendering, streaming responses, human review, and feedback loops • Create production AI workflows including tool-using agents, RAG/search, classification/extraction, and human-in-the-loop flows • Contribute features and improvements to the AI-powered business automation platform • Integrate and ingest data from third-party APIs, webhooks, and files • Build evals and monitoring for prompt/workflow regression tests, quality metrics, drift detection, cost, and latency • Design scalable queues, orchestration, retries, data models, and APIs • Improve UX polish, reliability, accessibility, and performance • Analyze requirements and propose AI-native solutions • Write clean, scalable code • Ship, test, and deploy full-stack features and services • Optimize AI system performance • Respond to critical system issues and ensure continuous reliability • Mentor team members and collaborate with product teams and subject matter experts • Understand user needs and solve design challenges creatively • Maintain a minimum four-hour overlap with the WorkHero team from 11am–3pm ET

🎯 Requirements

• Experience building and shipping production full-stack systems that you have owned • Strong React fundamentals or equivalent modern frontend framework experience • React Native experience is a plus • Strong Node.js backend fundamentals using REST and/or GraphQL in a typed language; TypeScript preferred • Hands-on experience with LLM-powered features, including usage, prompting, and optimization • Experience with AI frameworks such as LangChain • Experience with AI architectures such as RAG and reranking • Experience building applications on MongoDB, Postgres, or equivalent modern databases • Ability to work with infrastructure as code, including Terraform • Experience with cloud and CI/CD systems • Willingness to leverage AI coding tools such as Claude Code and Cursor • Minimum four hours of work-hours overlap with the WorkHero team from 11am–3pm ET • Experience with audio streaming and/or AI voice features is a plus • Experience with workflow automation tools such as n8n or Lindy is a plus • Experience with HVAC or back-office business workflows is a plus • Mobile development experience, especially Expo and/or React Native, is a plus • AWS experience is a plus
