• Drive strategy and execution of research across groups of product teams • Partner with product leadership to ensure research best practices and evidence-backed decision making • Provide research leadership for products or opportunities vital to Workiva strategy • Mentor researchers and members of the user experience team • Review research plans and consult on research best practices • Lead collection of analytics and communicate insights across multiple teams • Plan, coordinate, conduct, analyze, and communicate qualitative, quantitative, and experimental research studies • Collaborate with designers, product managers, and engineers to discover and prioritize product opportunities • Establish consistent research plans and schedules across product teams • Use a broad range of research techniques to understand customers, users, and workflows • Delegate tasks with team management to distribute work effectively • Use evaluation techniques to identify usability needs and refine implemented features • Organize, interpret, and present evidence to key decision makers • Lead collaborators in exploring approaches that provide optimal feedback • Analyze, synthesize, and communicate test and research results • Advocate for user-centered product improvements • Partner with leadership to inform product strategy and connect business outcomes to reliable insights
• Minimum of 5–7 years of professional experience conducting user research in a product development environment • Strong portfolio demonstrating varied research methodologies, data analysis techniques, and tangible impact on product design and development • Undergraduate degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Sociology, Anthropology, Design, Computer Science, or a related field • Expertise designing, conducting, and analyzing mixed-methods research studies • Proficiency in qualitative methods including usability testing, contextual inquiry, interviews, and focus groups • Proficiency in quantitative methods including surveys and data analytics • Experience developing and implementing data management strategies for UX research projects, including data cleaning, organization, and storage • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills • Outstanding interpersonal and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams • Willingness to travel less than 15% for team and corporate meetings • Reliable internet access while working remotely • Preferred: SaaS industry or related technology experience • Preferred: UX Researcher experience within Agile development teams • Preferred: JTBD-focused research, including job interviews and user-story analysis • Preferred: Statistical analysis techniques and software • Preferred: SQL • Preferred: UserTesting or UserZoom • Preferred: QuickSights or other data visualization tools • Preferred: Mentoring junior UX researchers • Preferred: Advanced degree in a relevant field • Preferred: Global research study experience
