📋 Description

• Accurately post data, including payments and adjustments • Communicate workflow problems to management • Resolve patient billing and third-party payer concerns • Interview and counsel patients regarding payment arrangements, charity assistance, and other assigned matters • Answer patient questions quickly, accurately, and courteously • Identify and screen Medicare charity within established guidelines • Rebill accounts as necessary • Work with patients to resolve account balances • Perform frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and feeling throughout the work shift • Work in a normal business office environment with high stress and constant interruptions

🎯 Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent • One (1) year experience in a healthcare setting (preferred) • One (1) year previous customer service experience (preferred) • Professional interactions at all times • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Knowledge of medical terminology (preferred) • Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding (preferred) • Ability to use tact and diplomacy in dealing with others • Demonstrated customer service relations • Analytical skills necessary for problem solving • Knowledge of Fair Debt Collection Act • Specialized courses or seminars beyond high school related to collections, medical field, or hospital business office setting • General knowledge of third party payers, collection laws, and collection procedures • Excellent telephone communication skills • Working knowledge of computers, including Microsoft Word and Excel • Ability to communicate with patients according to established age-specific education standards • Current knowledge of Medicare reimbursement process and audit regulations • Understanding of UB-92/1500 bill forms and EOMBs • Ability to understand written and oral communication • Ability to operate keyboards, fax machines, telephones, and other business equipment • Ability to meet physical demands including lifting more than 50 lbs. occasionally, up to 25 lbs. frequently, and up to 10 lbs. constantly • Visual acuity within normal range
