📋 Description

• Architect and design digital products using modern tools, technologies, frameworks, and systems • Design, implement, test, and document software • Own and manage applications in production and achieve product KPIs • Plan, direct, design, and execute complex and critical IT activities and programs • Select, lead, counsel, motivate, set expectations, and evaluate medium to large teams • Advise direct reports on administrative policies, risks, issues, problem resolution, sourcing decisions, budget, and priorities • Lead and participate in knowledge sharing and growth of engineering practices • Lead, build, and enhance software products • Design and implement testing strategies to validate acceptance criteria • Promote pair programming and test-driven development • Collaborate on system and application design and select effective technical solutions • Lead iteration planning, daily standups, cross-site collaboration, product ceremonies, and retrospectives • Collaborate with digital product teams and communicate technical designs • Provide technical leadership, guide technology choices, solve technical problems, and resolve team conflicts • Establish continuous integration, continuous delivery, and continuous deployment pipelines and practices • Align strategy across product portfolios with product managers, peers, and stakeholders • Serve as an expert across multiple business domains and technology stacks • Perform supervisory duties

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in software engineering, product engineering, or similar skill • Strong proficiency in Java 17+ and Spring Boot 3.x+ • Strong proficiency in JVM and application performance architecture/management • Understanding of frontend engineering, including ReactJS, AngularJS, and TypeScript • Understanding of building responsive, accessible, data-driven user experiences • Strong understanding of REST APIs and distributed systems • Experience building microservices and event-driven systems; Kafka preferred • Understanding of cloud and hybrid environments, including Azure, AWS, and on-premises systems • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases • Familiarity with OpenAPI, JSON, and AVSC schema standards • Practice of test-driven development (TDD) • Strong understanding of secure development • Comfortable working in a pair-programming (XP) environment • CI/CD experience with Jenkins or GitHub Actions, Docker, and Kubernetes • Experience leveraging Datadog or similar tools for application monitoring and troubleshooting • Working knowledge of Python (desired) • Understanding of MongoDB performance tuning (desired) • Understanding and ability to leverage or build generative and agentic AI tooling (desired) • Must submit to a background investigation • Allstate generally does not sponsor individuals for employment-based visas for this position • Dedicated, private workspace free from distractions when working from home • Reliable internet with minimum speeds of 50 MB download and 5 MB upload
