📋 Description

• Design and implement solutions for Honeycomb’s query and data storage infrastructure • Improve query performance and evolve the Retriever service • Make the storage layer more reliable • Break down complex storage and querying problems, surface trade-offs, and deliver projects independently • Own work end-to-end from design through production support • Collaborate with Product Management and engineering teams to connect technical solutions to product needs • Participate in on-call rotations • Help define team KPIs and SLOs • Reduce toil and address reliability challenges proactively • Explore new technologies, data storage techniques, and query optimization strategies • Pair, review code, provide constructive feedback, and help teammates grow

🎯 Requirements

• Technical leadership in storage and querying • Expertise writing Go • Experience working on high-throughput or complex systems • Prior database engineering experience is a plus • Comfort with Kubernetes is a plus • Ability to scope and deliver complex, multi-team projects • Deep debugging expertise across the stack • Ability to participate in on-call rotations • Ability to mentor engineers through code reviews • Ability to guide adoption of new technologies • Must verify identity and eligibility to work • Honeycomb cannot currently sponsor or support visa transfers
