📋 Description

• Work as a member of specialized technical teams supporting servers, workstations, and projects • Provide technical support for servers, workstations, and supporting tools and infrastructure across government and the broader public sector • Maintain hypervisors and install, configure, and maintain operating systems • Manage and maintain layered products and middleware • Install and upgrade hardware • Provide and maintain test environments • Apply approved operating system patches • Maintain fallback and recovery procedures and processes • Determine appropriate hardware, operating system, server/desktop, and cloud configurations for IT projects • Analyze customer service requests and conduct technical, procedural, and risk analysis • Design, develop, and document technical, business, and procedural solutions • Design, develop, and document cross-agency technical support specifications • Plan, test, and schedule application and operating system deployments • Receive, prioritize, assign, and manage service requests and incidents using incident management tools • Provide highest-level technical support and liaise with vendors • Conduct daily monitoring and maintenance of infrastructure, applications, and operating systems • Participate in or lead projects, determine resource requirements, develop implementation plans, track progress, and negotiate plan changes • Review systems specifications, schedules, and implementation plans • Identify desktop issues, evaluate threats, and develop or source fixes • Research emerging trends and develop new product offerings • Execute Problem and Change Management processes • Provide Tier-3 technical support, advice, and guidance • Review and test business solutions, operating systems, and software releases • Produce infrastructure and application change reports, user documentation, and Technical Information Bulletins • Assist with policy, guidelines, and standards development • Research technology, assess vendor advisories and industry best practices, conduct feasibility studies, and recommend technology • Participate in special projects, including disaster recovery tests and declarations

🎯 Requirements

• Related degree or equivalent combination of relevant experience, education and/or training • Experience with technical project planning and coordination of hardware and/or software business solutions in a LAN/WAN Microsoft Windows environment • Experience configuring and administering Service Management software suites such as ServiceNow • Experience analyzing and resolving complex Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Azure cloud technologies, and TCP/IP network problems • Technical experience or administration in one or more relevant technology disciplines • Advanced Microsoft operating system configuration, including Group Policy, Active Directory, or enterprise deployment imaging • Experience with Microsoft Systems Center Configuration Manager or equivalent • Experience with software packaging tools such as InstallShield, AppAttach, or MasterPackager • Software development using Microsoft tools and languages, including PowerShell • Enterprise Mobile Management experience such as AirWatch or Intune is an asset • Endpoint Security experience with Defender, CrowdStrike, or Sentinel preferred • VDI technologies experience, including Azure Virtual Desktop or Citrix, preferred • Azure Administration experience, including Azure Cloud or Azure Local, preferred • VMware administration and management experience preferred • Ability to plan, organize, and lead moderate to complex technical projects • Ability to prepare, edit, and proofread technical materials such as project plans, charters, reports, and manuals • Ability to present information and respond appropriately to questions • Ability to deal effectively with resistant, demanding, or frustrated individuals • Ability to contribute to team objectives through cooperation and collaboration • Ability to organize and manage fluctuating workloads independently • Ability to analyze technical and business problems, identify options, and develop effective courses of action • Ability to conduct investigations and research related to complex issues • Ability to use computer technology and fundamental software applications effectively • Ability to maintain customer hardware, software, and operating systems • Ability to administer and monitor service delivery infrastructure platforms • Candidate must reside in the Province of British Columbia due to union certification requirements • Applicants are subject to additional security screening requirements related to US and/or Canadian embargo export regulations
