📋 Description

• Lead and grow the Promise team of frontend, backend, and data science engineers • Own Promise’s roadmap and end-to-end delivery • Partner across Product, Sales, Customer Success, and Support • Set technical direction through PR reviews, architecture decisions, and AI-native engineering practices • Track advances in AI and engineering and incorporate relevant improvements into team workflows • Run short, hypothesis-driven development cycles and maintain a high quality bar • Hire strong engineers, set clear OKRs tied to product goals, and manage performance • Build and continuously improve the systems and models behind personalized delivery-date predictions

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of core engineering experience • Experience as a staff engineer • 3+ years as an engineering manager in high-growth startups • Deep backend and/or data science expertise • Experience leading teams across full stack and machine learning • Hands-on experience building with AI tools • Experience improving productivity and the software development lifecycle through agent harnesses, loop engineering, and agentic workflows • Hands-on experience with a major cloud platform; GCP preferred • Experience with consumer-facing products where usability and conversion matter • Experience directly managing Staff-level and above engineers • Track record of hiring strong talent, developing engineers into Staff-level roles, and managing performance decisively • Ability to work within EST/EDT or PST hours • Located in Canada
