📋 Description

• Design, scale, and performance-tune REST APIs, low-latency gRPC services, and SQL queries for registration, authentication, identity verification, fraud and AML screening, geolocation compliance, responsible gaming, regulatory reporting, and player notifications • Own high-scope, complex technical problems and present proposals to leadership and partner teams • Design, architect, and deliver features end-to-end in an agile/scrum environment • Identify production bottlenecks and risks and drive scalability improvements • Set up and refine Datadog monitoring and alerting • Mentor engineers through specifications, pairing, and code review • Collaborate with stakeholders across business domains to deliver products, operational improvements, and cost-efficiency optimizations • Bridge internal, third-party, legacy, and modern systems, including data migrations, data translation, and supporting infrastructure • Support software powering player registration, authentication, KYC, fraud and AML checks, geolocation compliance, responsible gaming, regulatory enforcement, and player communications

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in software engineering • Solid foundation in computer science, including data structures, distributed systems, algorithms, and software design • Experience with production systems at scale, load testing, tracing, and identifying areas of improvement • Experience investigating and remediating CPU, I/O, memory, and latency regressions in high-throughput services • Experience with on-call rotations and owning release cycles end-to-end • Experience with modern web frameworks and API development, including Phoenix, Ruby on Rails, FastAPI, Laravel, or Node • Strong grasp of relational databases, including PostgreSQL and MySQL, and relational database theory • Experience with Kubernetes and containerized environments • Proficiency with terminal tools, Git, and GitHub or similar • Experience with testing frameworks such as ExUnit, RSpec, Jest, pytest, or equivalent • Experience with background job processing, including Oban, Exq, Sidekiq, Celery, or Beanstalkd • Experience with asynchronous event handling infrastructure, including Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS SQS/SNS, or Google Cloud Pub/Sub • Experience with agentic software development tools and workflows is a major asset • Experience building authentication, identity, or regulated systems with strong security and auditability • Understanding of authentication and authorization standards, including OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, and MFA, and secure handling of PII • Experience integrating third-party KYC, fraud, geolocation, or messaging providers is an asset • Nice-to-have experience with Elixir, hexagonal architecture, Domain-Driven Design, open source, startups, sports/esports, financial or legal systems, GraphQL, multi-client/white-label platforms, and gaming regulatory requirements • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • No educational credential is explicitly required
