📋 Description

‱ Manage, supervise, and advocate for the team's needs by following an established development process and by performing hands-on work on levels, content, and documentation to efficiently produce playable levels that align with the Art Director's vision, level design requirements, and narrative needs while meeting production constraints and performance targets. ‱ Lead a team and foster a motivating work environment to achieve the best possible outcomes for the project and support the personal development of team members. ‱ Create level geometry and world composition in Unreal Engine. ‱ Ensure the technical consistency of all environment art elements across the project while adhering to established processes. ‱ Make sure all created assets meet the technical and design requirements of the engine effectively. ‱ Define, maintain, and communicate quality standards and completion criteria for environment art elements. ‱ Translate the Art Director's vision into clear artistic direction for the team and ensure its consistent implementation. ‱ Execute tasks according to specifications and ensure smooth workflows are maintained to meet deadlines. ‱ Work closely with production on task allocation and scheduling to meet milestones while promoting a healthy work-life balance through clear expectations and frameworks. ‱ Oversee bug fixes and write R&D case studies for the knowledge base. ‱ Identify risks and communicate them as early as possible, proposing solutions to manage them according to project needs. ‱ Provide daily feedback to maintain the desired quality level and to support the team's development. ‱ Collaborate with the team to find solutions and resolve problems creatively. ‱ Share knowledge and mentor colleagues. ‱ Work with the technical art team and encourage R&D initiatives to explore new techniques and improve workflows and processes. ‱ Collaborate and communicate effectively with other managers, directors, and project stakeholders across departments to ensure efficiency and minimize misunderstandings. ‱ Conduct regular performance and compensation reviews for team members. ‱ Lead recruitment initiatives in collaboration with HR. ‱ Ensure the onboarding and integration of new hires.

🎯 Requirements

‱ Portfolio demonstrating AAA-quality environment work, ideally including detailed breakdowns of a modular workflow approach that show strong domain knowledge, extensive experience with pipelines, artistic sensibility, and the ability to produce production-ready game environments (Unreal Engine). ‱ Professional experience with at least one industry-standard DCC tool (Maya, Blender, 3ds Max, or equivalent). ‱ Mastery of modular workflows. ‱ Extensive experience creating environments in Unreal Engine, including world-building and optimization. ‱ Ability to interpret concepts artistically and expand on initial ideas in a creative way. ‱ Capacity to adapt and develop an artistic style, techniques, and workflows with minimal supervision. ‱ Demonstrated narrative staging and composition skills. ‱ Adaptability. ‱ Ability to balance artistic quality with in-engine performance. ‱ Strong command of traditional art techniques and core design fundamentals (form, texture, value, and color). ‱ Daily proficiency with PBR shaders and normal map workflows. ‱ Excellent mentoring, coaching, and leadership skills. ‱ Collaborative mindset with service managers and cross-department teams to tackle artistic and technical challenges. ‱ Familiarity with Unreal Engine, Maya/3ds Max, ZBrush, Blender, Photoshop, and Substance Painter. ‱ 7+ years in console or PC game development, including 5+ years in Unreal Engine and prior experience in a leadership capacity.
