📋 Description

• Own technically complex, mission-critical areas • Define and drive technical strategy for new products and platform capabilities • Design and ship full-stack features across backend, frontend, and potentially mobile • Build AI-powered products solving real operational problems • Partner with product, design, and customer-facing teams to translate ambiguous problems into technical plans and measurable outcomes • Build and scale systems behind AI-driven products, including data ingestion, APIs, and operator workflows • Conduct code reviews and design reviews • Mentor engineers and set standards for quality, velocity, and craft • Champion Samsara’s cultural principles while scaling globally and across new offices • Participate in customer interviews and collaborate with product managers and customer success

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience • 8+ years of experience in software design and development, including building and operating production systems at scale • Strong full-stack fundamentals across backend services, APIs, and frontend (web or mobile) • Proficiency in Go, Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, React, or similar modern languages and frameworks • Experience leading cross-team or cross-org projects from inception through rollout • Experience building AI-powered or data-driven products • Strong communication skills and ability to translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders • Track record of building zero-to-one products or significantly improving systems • Experience shipping AI-powered features in production (ideal) • Comfort with AI-augmented development workflows such as Cursor and LLMs (ideal) • Background working with operational data such as telematics, sensor data, work orders, or inspections (ideal) • Track record of mentoring senior engineers and influencing engineering culture (ideal) • Side projects or open-source contributions (ideal) • Ability to secure and maintain the legal right to work at the company and in the specified work location
