• Bring impactful pharmaceutical products to customers quickly and efficiently by leading the China Asset Strategy Team and collaborating with JAPAC and global teams • Define and execute China development strategies for assigned assets • Ensure development assets add significant value to China pharma through rapid, broad, and effective pipeline development • Consider market potential and commercialization aspects in development planning • Lead, drive, and coordinate all China development activities through the Asset Strategy Team • Foster continuous improvement throughout the asset lifecycle • Develop integrated development strategies for China based on regulatory requirements and commercial needs • Bring new products to market using the fastest and most cost-effective approach • Provide input to global Asset Strategy Teams so China strategies integrate with global development strategies • Align program development strategies with China commercial, JAPAC, Intercon, and Asset Strategy Team stakeholders • Represent the local Asset Strategy Team at global teams and appropriate China decision bodies • Set challenging asset-related objectives with team members • Maintain team motivation and foster trust and transparency • Provide regular performance feedback to team members • Advance assets with speed, quality, and budget control • Define and plan development timelines and milestones • Drive implementation of China asset strategies by leading local and global Asset Strategy Teams • Develop proposals to manage, mitigate, or resolve project risks in China • Hold Asset Strategy Team members accountable for committed timelines and budgets • Build connections with the global Asset Strategy Leadership group • Contribute to China portfolio strategy and cross-affiliate stakeholder alignment • Lead AbbVie-wide initiatives to build leadership capability and enhance team performance
• Bachelor’s Degree required in life science area • Advanced degree highly preferred (e.g. MD, PhD, MBA) • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in drug development in a pharmaceutical/biotech setting • Experience in Neuroscience and/or Immunology preferred • Strong strategic thinking, collaboration, facilitative leadership, executive function, and problem-solving skills • Ability to assimilate new knowledge rapidly and apply it to asset strategy • Experience leading a team in a cross-functional environment • Ability to exercise objective judgment and create pragmatic solutions for complex cross-functional problems • Ability to obtain stakeholder advice and make informed decisions amid uncertainty or incomplete data • Ability to lead and motivate team members across functional areas • Ability to lead through influence and bring out the best in others • Ability to delegate accountability and decision-making to supporting teams and functions • Ability and willingness to respectfully challenge team members and functions and manage conflict • Excellent oral and written communication skills in both Chinese and English
