📋 Description

• Architect and manage containerized environments focused on Kubernetes orchestration and cloud infrastructure • Ensure scalable, reliable, and secure deployment pipelines • Drive the transition toward a modern, container-first infrastructure • Spend approximately one third of the time on the Kubernetes platform and two thirds migrating services from the legacy estate • Move job ingestion and search services onto Kubernetes during the first year • Switch off the remaining Chef-managed machine images • Translate business and infrastructure requirements into technical solutions and identify roadblocks • Write Terraform to manage AWS resources • Automate manual and repetitive work and extend existing services with plugins where appropriate • Own deployment, scaling, and day-to-day management of Kubernetes clusters using ArgoCD and Helm • Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for deploying microservices to production • Build monitoring and logging for new services using Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch, and AWS CloudWatch • Maintain high uptime and optimize cloud costs • Partner with engineering teams to accelerate development and retire legacy technology • Maintain consistency and favor clean, simple solutions

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years working as an Infrastructure, DevOps, Platform, or SRE Engineer • Ability to work autonomously while communicating clearly and efficiently with a highly distributed team • Solid working knowledge of AWS and Kubernetes • Fluency in Python and Bash scripting and CI/CD tooling • Strong grounding in cloud networking, security practices, and identity management (IAM) • Judgement to architect complex systems and act alongside existing platform engineers • Ability to document systems clearly • Strong commercial / ROI mentality and focus on business outcomes • Nice to have: experience with Packer and Chef machine images • Nice to have: Kubernetes workloads using EKS and ArgoCD • Nice to have: Nginx, Apache, or Varnish under real traffic • Nice to have: production administration of MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Elasticsearch • Nice to have: email deliverability knowledge • Nice to have: cloud cost optimization • Nice to have: incident remediation and recurrence prevention • Nice to have: agentic AI for infrastructure-as-code and/or software development
