📋 Description

• Own the architecture of agentic systems • Build the agent harness, including orchestration, tool interfaces, sandboxing, permission models, state and memory management, subagents, and tracing • Develop loop engineering and context management, including execution rules, budgets, context windows, history compaction, and cross-session memory • Develop scalable services in Python and TypeScript • Build APIs and implement asynchronous processing, queues, backpressure, rate limits, idempotency, and tenant isolation • Build the data and retrieval layer, from ingestion and normalization through vector and full-text indexes • Measure and improve retrieval quality • Conduct trajectory evaluations and prompt and tool regression tests, and implement guardrails • Operate systems using containerization, CI/CD, and monitoring • Manage latency and model costs • Work with coding agents and evaluate models and frameworks • Jointly decide with the Head of AI on the technology stack and on-premises deployment for data protection or cost reasons • Collaborate in a small team, working directly with the Head of AI

🎯 Requirements

• Several years of backend or platform engineering experience • Proven experience operating agentic systems in production, not just proof-of-concept projects • Experience with agent architectures, tool calling, tool design, MCP, planning and reflection patterns, and multi-agent setups with subagents • Experience designing execution loops, context compaction, and cross-session state management • Write clean, testable Python and TypeScript code • Experience developing APIs with FastAPI or Node.js • Daily experience working with coding agents • Experience with systems under load, concurrency, queues, rate limits, and distributed state • Experience with Docker, CI/CD, and deployments on AWS, Azure, GCP, or self-hosted infrastructure • Kubernetes and local GPU environments are a plus • Experience with ETL and ELT pipelines • Proficiency with vector databases • Knowledge of evaluation, tracing, and observability, along with an awareness of latency and token costs • Experience with GDPR-compliant architectures, tenant isolation, secrets management, agent tool permissions, and cloud/on-premises boundaries • Excellent German skills at C2 level • Business-fluent English
