📋 Description

• Build and own the entire delivery lifecycle: discovery, design, build, verification, release, and post-release incidents • Handle unassigned work, including access, unexplained datasets, and integrations • Communicate directly with clients, including declining requests with reasons and alternatives • Demonstrate that acceptance criteria are met without a separate testing phase • Deliver reproducibly with AI agents using specifications and tests first, committed agent context, and gates on every change • Work inside client environments, including repositories, standups, and sometimes customer calls • Use AI coding tools such as Claude Code and Codex • Work across OpenAI, Anthropic, and open-weight models, and use Azumo's Valkyrie production layer when appropriate • Maintain quality through automated codebase audits covering security, cost, and architecture • Act as the technical lead and accountable owner for client engagements

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years building and shipping production software, with depth in at least one of four lanes: product software, data pipelines and retrieval, modeling and applied AI, or AI systems in production • Experience as the only engineer on an engagement, or the first one on a new client • Track record of delivering inside someone else's environment — their repository, conventions, and constraints — without supervision and without a specification written for you • Direct client-facing experience, including scoping work with the person paying, pushing back on requests, and being believed • End-to-end ownership of at least one production system, including incidents • Daily delivery work with AI coding agents beyond autocomplete, including repository execution, maintained repo-level context, and review of everything merged • Cloud deployment experience on Azure or AWS • Experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code using GitHub Actions, Terraform, or Bicep • English at C1/C2 • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent professional experience • Preferred: working depth in a second lane • Preferred: delivery under compliance regimes such as SOC 2 or HIPAA • Preferred: consulting, agency, or client-services background • Preferred: contributions to open-source projects, published technical writing, or active engineering community participation
