📋 Description

• Title: VP Product - Base Operations • Location: Remote • About Base Operations: Base Operations is a high-growth threat intelligence platform that decodes the world's threat landscape into actionable security insights to protect people, assets, and operations around the world. • Mission: Transform reactive security into proactive intelligence; Base Operations combines cutting-edge AI, geospatial analytics, and BaseEngine, our proprietary global threat model. • Position Overview: We're seeking a VP Product to lead our product strategy and execution during a pivotal growth phase; operate as both a strategic visionary and hands-on executor. • Reports to the CEO and is a member of the executive leadership team; will initially manage a lean but growing product team and scale as the company grows. • Key Responsibilities: Strategic Product Leadership; Cross-functional Collaboration; Product Development & Execution; Team Building & Leadership • Strategic Product Leadership: Define and execute comprehensive product strategy aligned with company vision and market opportunities; Own the product roadmap for our dual-use, AI-powered threat intelligence platform; Drive product-market fit initiatives across commercial and government sectors; Establish product metrics and success criteria • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with Engineering, Data Science, and AI/ML teams; Collaborate with Sales and Customer Success to understand enterprise customer needs; Interface with executive team and board; Collaborate with GTM-focused executives on competitive analysis and market positioning • Product Development & Execution: Oversee end-to-end product development lifecycle; Drive innovation in street-level threat analytics, AI-powered forecasting, risk scoring, and data visualization; Lead development of new product lines and features for dual-use defense; Champion user experience and design thinking • Team Building & Leadership: Build, mentor, and scale a lean but capable product team; Establish development processes and best practices; Foster a culture of customer obsession, data-driven decision making, and rapid experimentation; Recruit top product talent and career growth paths • Required Qualifications: 10+ years of product management experience with 5+ years in senior leadership; Enterprise SaaS experience; DefenseTech/government customer experience; Experience scaling products; Track record of launches in B2B; Education not specified • Preferred Qualifications: Startups scaling Series A to growth; Intelligence/defense sector background; Government contracting experience; Products serving commercial and government markets; International expansion experience • Technical Skills: Experience with real-time analytics, data platforms, NLP, OSINT, GIS • Leadership Qualities: Player/coach mindset; resource-constrained leadership; C-level communication; mission-driven culture • Base Operations is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion.

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years of product management experience with 5+ years in senior product leadership roles • Deep experience in Enterprise SaaS with focus on geo-spatial, intelligence, or data analytics platforms • Proven track record in dual-use, DefenseTech, GovTech, intelligence, law enforcement, or serving government/defense customers • Experience scaling products from early growth stage through enterprise maturity • History of successful product launches and go-to-market execution in complex B2B environments • Experience in startups that have successfully scaled from Series A to growth stage • Background in intelligence, defense, or national security sectors • Previous experience with government contracting (SBIR, prime contracts, etc.) • Track record of building products that serve both commercial and government markets • Experience with international expansion and global customer requirements • Experience with modern data platforms, real-time analytics, and big data processing • Knowledge of natural language processing and automated data extraction technologies • Understanding of open source intelligence (OSINT) and threat intelligence collection methods • Familiarity with GIS technologies and geospatial analysis platforms • Experience as a player/coach in small, high-growth teams • Proven ability to operate effectively with limited resources and competing priorities • Strong communication skills with ability to present to C-level executives and government stakeholders • Cultural fit for a mission-driven organization focused on protecting people and assets globally
