The Invasive Species Council of BC (ISCBC) is a registered charity, founded in 2004. The Council operates a wide number of programs in partnership with organizations across BC, including regional committees, industry, community groups, and all levels of government. ISCBC is a dynamic action-oriented organization, helping coordinate and unite a wide variety of concerned stakeholders in the struggle against invasive species in BC and spearheading behavioural change in gardeners, outdoor recreation enthusiasts, Aboriginal groups and both resource industry and horticultural professionals. Our mission is to collaborate and stimulate actions that prevent the spread of invasive species to our communities and the natural environment. ISCBC members come from all over the province, and are united by the common vision to create a province that is free of invasive species that impact the economy, the environment, and ourselves.

📋 Description

• Preparing, reviewing, monitoring, and managing budgets. • Ensuring compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements. • Producing reports related to budgets, accounts payable, accounts receivable, expenses, etc. • Preparing financial reports on projects and assisting with projections. • Monitoring the day-to-day financial operations within the organization (payroll, invoicing, and other transactions). • Reporting to management, funders and stakeholders and providing advice on how the Council and future business decisions might be impacted. • Developing and updating reporting standards and procedures, emphasizing key financial and non-financial metrics to inform decision-making. • Overseeing the Project and Proposals Coordinator and work closely to support funding applications including proposed project activities and project budgets.

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in financial management, ideally in a non-profit organization • Strong knowledge of accounting theory, techniques, and policies • Proficiency with MS Office applications with strong experience in Excel spreadsheets • Demonstrated experience in accounting systems such as Sage • Professionalism and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within a team and build positive relationships • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills • Strong knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable • Good understanding and experience in payroll and systems such as Ceridian • Experience in supervising and mentoring staff • Knowledge of human resources and policies, a strong asset • Experience in fund development is considered an asset
