📋 Description

• Build and improve features for the Branch Android app used by customers • Create smooth, reliable, and user-friendly mobile experiences • Work with backend teams to integrate APIs and support new product features • Improve app performance, stability, and overall user experience • Fix issues, reduce app crashes, and make the app faster and more reliable • Work with Product Managers, Designers, and engineers to deliver features end to end • Support third-party integrations such as payments, authentication, analytics, and marketing • Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and team collaboration • Take ownership of features and projects from development through release • Contribute to code quality, testing, and maintainability of the Android codebase • Suggest improvements and contribute to technical and architectural discussions

🎯 Requirements

• Some experience building native Android applications beyond toy projects • Applications with real users or an open-source project are a plus • Solid foundation in computer science fundamentals • Good understanding of Android development using Kotlin • Familiarity with modern Android development practices and frameworks • Strong understanding of modern Android UI development using Jetpack Compose • Ability to build responsive and scalable UI components and manage UI state • Familiarity with modern Android architecture and design patterns • Experience building features that interact with REST APIs and backend services • Familiarity with third-party integrations such as authentication, analytics, payments, or messaging platforms is a plus • Deep understanding of Android app performance, crash debugging, stability, and reliability • Curiosity about new technologies and willingness to learn beyond mobile development • Demonstrated fluency with modern AI-assisted development workflows • Clear, structured written and verbal communication • Comfortable operating asynchronously • Understanding of web fundamentals, data modeling, and distributed systems • Knowledge of modular, scalable solutions, security, performance, and observability • Experience with automated testing and testable code • Ability to navigate and evaluate unfamiliar codebases • Understanding of the full software development lifecycle • Ability to break down ambiguous projects into granular, estimable tasks • Ability to partner with product, design, and other functions • Ability to use AI tools critically while mitigating prompt injection, data leakage, and secret-management risks • Entrepreneurial initiative, curiosity, attention to detail, integrity, and ownership of shipped work
