• Support the safety and reliability of autonomous robotic vehicle systems. • Identify hazards and risks using Systems Theoretic Process Analysis (STPA). • Support the definition of safety requirements, and implement safety measures throughout the product development lifecycle. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate safety into design, development, verification, and validation activities. • Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards and regulations. • Promote a strong culture of safety and compliance across the organization. • Contribute to the development of functional safety concepts and requirements for autonomous vehicle control systems. • Conduct safety analyses including STPA, FMEA, and FTA. • Review safety verification and validation activities, such as safety testing and simulation. • Prepare and maintain safety documentation, including safety plans, safety cases, and safety reports. • Participate in both internal and external safety audits and assessments. • Provide technical guidance and support to project teams on functional safety-related matters. • Stay current on advancements in functional safety practices and autonomous vehicle technologies.
• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Science, or a related field. • Relevant certifications such as Certified Functional Safety Expert (CFSE), Certified Functional Safety Professional (CFSP), Automotive Functional Safety Professional (AFSP), Functional Safety Engineer, or similar credentials are highly preferred. • 3-8 years of experience in functional safety engineering, preferably within robotics, automotive, heavy machinery, mining equipment, or agricultural machinery industries. • Hands-on experience with functional safety activities using STPA. • Strong understanding of functional safety standards. • Foundational skills in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks using STPA, FMEA, and FTA. • Knowledge of safety lifecycle processes and safety integrity levels. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for addressing complex safety and compliance issues. • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills to maintain safety records and compliance documentation. • Ability to analyze safety data, perform risk assessments, and identify improvement opportunities. • Demonstrated leadership skills, including guiding cross-functional teams and influencing stakeholders across levels. • Ability to present and summarize reports and technical analyses for leadership, customers, and regulatory authorities.
